Providing equine learning to the children and families of Kauai
Who We are
Paniolo Aloha Lio provides a low- or no-cost opportunity for children, their teachers, and their families to participate in inter-species learning with horses.
Properly supervised interaction with horses has been demonstrated to develop:
- Non-verbal expressive communication
- Non-verbal listening skills
- Mindfulness
- Perspective-taking
- Responsibility, patience, perseverance, and the importance of investing in a relationship
Participants at Paniolo Aloha Lio experience our values first hand as they are introduced to the unique world of natural horsemanship. Our students learn how working with the instinctive sensibilities of horses ties in with Hawaiian cultural values and how all of us can contribute to the community on Kauai.
Core values:
Kuleana – Responsibility
O’hana – Family & loving community
Ho’omau – Perseverance
Ho’ohanohano – Respect
Instruction can proceed based on student interest up through all skill levels, from basic approach, safety, feeding and grooming up through competitive riding. Classes are available for pre-existing groups, individuals, and families.
